Remember the fishing tackle shop as Dick Bagglo’s ladies and gents hairdresser’s.
My dad and uncle Joe ran Mills butchers until its closure early oo’s.
In the 70’s I was in the Police and dealing with an accident at that location when some drunk oik came across and started assaulting me. Some punters from the shops came out to help me and I was quite grateful for the help. Memories of a long time ago.
The library was the butchers then the paper shop then barbers/hairdressers then chemist had lots of sweets from paper shop
Falkirk video library in dunfermline, never understood that.
I stayed at 2 st Andrew st. Fishing shops was barbers & hairdressers.
Brings back lots of memories. I loved John G Youngs. Also remember going into Falkirk video shop and asking for the posters.
I worked there after school and on a Saturday. Really busy shop.. owned by Alex Punler..anyone remember Molly the manageress?
My grandmother lived on Blake Street, when I stayed with her during holidays, I remember going to the Co op and the Brucefield Cafe for ice cream.
I lived in Pitcorthie estate 1971 till start of eighties and this was Airfix, Revell and Humbrol Mecca! As an 8 year old would walk there just to look at boxes!
This was before the Video Library (also a centre of ….erm…(some guy told me just say you want to see “The List”)

Remember it well. I worked part time in the video library for a few years and yes we did have an extensive under the counter choice. Lol.
Worked in The Brucefield Cafe when it had stopped the sit-down bit and sold ice-cream, sweets and take-away rolls – will NEVER forget telling the customer I could sell him buttered rolls and bags of crisps but he’d have to make up his own ‘crisp rolls’!!!
Jenny’s hairdressers was just down for there. She used to do my grannies perm. I loved that stationery shop…did it also sell fishing gear or something?
This brings back memories, lived in Whitelaw Crescent from 1955,mum used to take us to the cafe.I remember frequenting chip shop after going to Air Training Corps at Pitreavie 1145 squadron mondays and Fridays. How I would like to go back in time………………….
