This photograph looks towards East Port on the left and James Street on the right, which now leads up to the top entrance of the Kingsgate Centre. The tenements have long gone and there is now a green open space where they once stood. The photograph is taken from where the Carnegie Hall now stands.

It looked like this when I was a boy, but by the time I was born, the tram lines were gone.
Viewfield Baptist Church has just made it into the photo…
I remember those tenements in james street. The back wall of garden had Hoggan in white paint. The painter and decorator. Also remember Alan Hoggan who was a roadie for Nazareth. Wife Lyn and son Finn. Very kind and hospitable. Fond memories from more than 40 years ago!
i am 65 but cant remember seeing the flats on the corner!!
My Granny Maisie Black was born on James street and my Dad. Does anyone remember a small shop owned by the Black family.
