In 1960 we rented the top flat of 44 Gardner Street (from Ferguson the coal merchant and market gardener) facing the top station we remember when late one night a train whistle got stuck and it blew for a long time we still had to get up and go to work next day great memories
Brings back happy memories for me. My Dad was a train driver and as kids we were always on trains courtesy of his ” passes” which were awarded to British Rail staff.

I remember as a child,my mum allowing me to take my wee brother on the train….steam train from Oakley to Dunfermline. Special moments. I was devastated when Beecham axed our railway station.

Remember saying goodbye to my then girlfriend now my wife at the lower station 1959 and 1960 then return it to barracks in England

The old steam trains single carriage taking granny and I on our holiday to Elgin in the 50’s. Those were the days my friend xxx
We would to get the train from Alloa to Dunfermline upper then a train from the lower to Markinch in the fifties!!!

If I remember the upper had a shunting yard as well as the station

Would love to go with my Mum she is 80 this year and grew up in Rosyth and Dunfermline was her town.

We lived in a wee cottage at the side of the line going to/from the upper station. It was demolished to make way for the tax office and dwp.

I used to put my daughter’s high pram in the guard’s van of the train at the upper station to go to Oakley to visit my mother .Happy days !!
