A photograph of the beach at Aberdour with two ‘Punch and Judy’ shows providing entertainment on the beach from a time when Aberdour would have been a popular destination for holidaymakers, and also a place where many people young and old from Dunfermline would have had their first ever glimpse of the sea and sand. Steam ships would also bring in passengers from Edinburgh on day trips.

Lived in Aberdour when I was a bairn. Don’t recollect much but do remember my Mum and Dad taking us up to Humbie woods for picnics. We loved it!
Great place to grow up in, still has that special village charm?
I remember it well even if this photo must have been taken over 75 years ago.
This photo will have been taken early in the 1900s.
This has to be far earlier than the 1930’s! Probably between. 1900/1910. Still have a Punch &Judy show during the Festival….
