Photograph of Garvock Hill from around 1965. Covered by woods at one stage, many of the trees were cut down and used in the rebuilding of Dunfermline after the Great Fire of 1624 destroyed a great proportion of the wooden buildings in the town.

Almost bought one of the villas on the right, eventually with railings in front, in 1973 but finally bought a Chalet Bungalow slightly further east of this photograph.
and thats why Transy is short for Transylvania
Stayed in one of the Semi – Detached houses on the right when it was built at the start of the 60’s.
A mind this but in my memory bank I can’t place Garvock Hill, anybody got a map?

I remember doing my paper round in the winter and sliding down that hill on the righ on my bike

Brings back so many great memories! Grew up in Gowanbrae Drive, just down the road from here. Remember staggering around Garvock, drunk at New Year with my buddy ha ha
thats the junction of Garvock Terrace and Garvock Hill taken from next to the Mackays house!

I worked on these houses as an apprentice electrician with James Scott. A B Cant was the builder
