The Chalmers Street Church on the left would be demolished soon afterwards to make way for what is now the entrance to the car park opposite Alari’s Fish and Chip shop. McPherson’s book shop would go on to occupy Bernstein’s Furniture Arcade on the left when it relocated here from its premises in the Regal Close. Note what was called an ‘Iron Cow’, beside the church, a number of which were located around the town-refrigerated coin operated-machines where cartons of milk could be purchased.
