Cracking photos just how I remember the toon
Mutter’s Chipshop, just back over the left shoulder, where I used to winch my burd. Shafi’s right in front of you. My aunty Susan managed Shafi’s.
loved this part of the town, peter smiths the stance chippy, the fruit bazaar, the top bus stance.x
My mum worked in stance restaurant for years, loved going in and getting chips and beans
OMG gran and grandad coutts lived at number 12 xx
Remember it well there was a wee sweetie shop there and always had to go in and also the fish and chip shop lunch on a Friday when we were at work
Well old Dunfermline, my Dad and Grandparents lived in the house that’s in the middle of the pic!
Wow, this house hasn’t changed one bit – if this is 1961, then it would have housed all the Macdonalds (except Ann) and Mary and Nana on the top floor with Sandy? the dog, and the tortoise in the garden!
I used to work with Willie Hamilton whose shop was just round the corner on the right

Looks the lads had either been at. or were going to the swimming. Going wrong way for the baths, maybe a Karate/judo club close by?
Hi Andew loved the photos and the stories about Dunfermline. It bring back memories of the days I spent in Rosyth. I remember when i went to Saint Margarets school and walked around. I miss those days it brings tears to my eyes looking at these old pictures and thinking of the time I spent with my family. Ill always remember the times i spent living in Dunfermline. I used to live above the Stance Restaurant
Got married in Gillespie Church which was situated to the right. There was a link to the Cooperative straight across.. does anyone remember it ?
Remember John Macdonald, made brother was friends with him, Sandy Morris. Gosh our town was a great place then, it just looks awful now.
