If you look closely, you can see a boy wearing a kilt and some of the ladies look like they are wearing furs.

I wonder if all this was about boosting moral. ie, here is the captured enemy air craft, evidence that we will win the war at time when that was by no means certain. I presume that there were times when Rosyth Dockyard would be a prime target.

Looks like it was taken on a Sunday as children wore kilts to Sunday school and everyone wore their Sunday best!!!

The display of captured or shot down German aircraft was quite common round the UK – usually tied in with a fund raising effort. They would tour tound towns and cities encouraging people to invest in war bonds and similar schemes.

The is particular one is a Messerschmitt Bf109E

Another forum has provided informationas to the identifity of the aircraft – it was shot down on 29th October 1940 in Langenhoe, Essex, by a pilot of 111 Squadron RAF. The German pilot became a POW. YOu can read an account on this page:
