This picture taken in 1958 shows the Public Park. On the right hand side is the Upper Railway Station where B&Q is now, and the public tennis courts can be seen in front of the Carnegie Hall which is now the site of a Skate Park. On the left hand side is the Lower Railway Station. Although cars were able to use the road through the park at that time, there certainly wasn’t the volume of traffic there is now with the dual carriageway running through it.
