    I wonder if all this was about boosting moral. ie, here is the captured enemy air craft, evidence that we will win the war at time when that was by no means certain. I presume that there were times when Rosyth Dockyard would be a prime target.

    The display of captured or shot down German aircraft was quite common round the UK – usually tied in with a fund raising effort. They would tour tound towns and cities encouraging people to invest in war bonds and similar schemes.
